Instructions: Answer Question ONE and any other TWO Questions

Question One
Describe the qualities of a good recording studio including the studio layout, the equipment and the software/special effects that you require for good radio productions. (30 Marks)

Question Two

How would you produce a radio play involving a man who dreams that he is talking to his father who died many years ago? Consider the following guidelines:

The man argues with his father that he is not a failure.
The father feels let down by a son he spent so much money to educate but who has nothing to show for it.
The man accuses his father of encouraging him to marry a woman who brought him to ruin.
The door opens and the man wakes from his frightful dream.

(20 Marks)

Question Three
Write a story of a football match you watched last Sunday in the Nyayo stadium where your favourite team Sams Makumba lost to the Dynamos of Zimbabwe. The referee from Zambia was accused of bias in favour of Zimbabwe. The story should be no more than 80 words. (20 Marks)

Question Four

How would you produce the following Swahili poem for young children?

Chura nataka kujua

Furahayo kitu gani?

Kila inyapo mvua

Wakimbilia Ziwani

Huna nguo za kuvua

Na sabuni huna pia

Tena huna mtungi

Maji utaya fanyiani?

Question Five
You wish to make a documentary on the evolution of the search of a new constitutional dispensation in Kenya. Write down possible sources of ideas you would use, interview, consult, borrow, record or read to make the documentary. (20 Marks)
