Instructions:

Answer question one and any two others.

Question One

Read the poem below very carefully and then write a prose narrative which begins like this. "In the village where Markwei Martie comes from, the parents are very strict about………….."

In our little village

When elders are around,

And girls must not look at boys

Because the elders say

That is not good.

Even when night comes

Boys must play separately,

Girls must play separately,

But humanity is weak

So boys and girls meet.

The boys play hide and seek

And the girls play hide and seek

The boys know where the girls hide

And the girls know where the boys hide¬_____

So in their hide and seek____

Boys seek girls,

And each to each sing

Songs of love.

To cover the first verse. Begin the second verse this way: "When night comes the parents insist that boys should play separately from the girls and indeed they do so………… and continue to the end of the poem.
The prose narrative should not be more than 300 words. (30 marks)

Question Two
The Geological Society of Kenya has reported that heavy tremors have been sensed around Mt. Longonot over the past week. You have been detailed by your radio station to get the facts from the head of the Geology Department in the University of Nairobi. The Head of Radio is concerned with the safety of the population around Mt. Longonot. Write down ten questions in the right order that you would ask the Professor of Geology. The answers would provide you with material for a script entitled: The Tremors of Mt. Longonot. (20 marks)

Question Three

In what ways do radio scripts differ from television scripts?

Explain the means you have at your disposal to create images for radio audiences for your script.

(5 marks)

Explain the means you have to create TV images for your script.

(5 marks)

Question Four

Maltex is a new non-alcoholic beverage. You have been approached to write a script for advertising the product. The manufacturers are calling it the Maltex Health Drink. They say the drink is good for youth who play sports and games. Write the advert to last not more than 30 seconds.

Identify three possible niches for the product.

Question Five

"My husband tells me I am stupid and very backward, He says that my hairstyle makes him sick. Because I am dirty."

This was a complaint by a rural-based lady. Write down the views that an urban-based lady would make about her husband who spends lots of time in the rural areas.

Write down what the husband would tell his friend to describe the looks of his rural-based wife.
