b) Read the following two paragraphs and show which among them is academic by giving reasons. (16marks)
Paragraph 1
Prewitt ( 1972) has noted that the existence of a perfect system is based on satisfying the authorities rather than a student constituency. School heads often used to the bureaucratic nature of the school structure, however, seem to perceive nothing undemocratic in the selection of prefects, since they argue that such selection is based on merit. Moreover, the students themselves seem to see such a system as fair and sensible, because in a study in Nigeria, they expressed overwhelming approval for existence of prefects and monitors. ( Haber, 1989:83)

Paragraph 2
Akuku Danger never ceased to amaze while he lived. With over forty wives and innumerable number of children, he was a legend in his own right. When I first heard of this great achievement of his, I was both mesmerized and perturbed at the same time. King Mswati with all the royalties and power may never match this great man from Kogelo. The trend being set by Jacob Zuma who is crazy with his zip down South is also worth of note but nowhere closer to our very own cock – Danger.
