Q1. Differentiate the following terms (8marks)
a) Homologous and analogous structures
b) Phenotype and genotype
c) Dominant and recessive
d) Gene and chromosome
Q2. The following is the sequence of bases in one of the two strands of part of a DNA
molecule: CAGGTACCTG. Using this part of DNA, Illustrate and describe the
steps taken in the assembly of a protein. (8marks)

Q4. Briefly describe the process of genetic engineering (8marks)
Q5. In poultry the genes for rose-comb (R) and pea-comb (P), if present together
produce a walnut-comb. The recessive alleles of both when present together in
homozygous condition produce a single-comb. What are the possible results
obtained in the F2 generation when pure breeding rose-comb fowl is crossed with
a pure breed pea-combed fowl? What general principle is being demonstrated
here? (8marks)
