1. Prostaglandins have diverse biochemical function on different tissues.

(a) Discuss briefly, the biosynthesis of prostaglandins.

(b) Discuss their effects on different tissues.

(c) Discuss the mode of action of Acetyl salicylic acid on the effects of prostaglandins. [15 marks]

2. Discuss the endocrinological regulations of calcium metabolism in metabolism in mammalian system. [15 marks]

3. Discuss the biosynthesis of catecholamines and their functions. [10 marks]

4. With examples, describe the general mode of action of hormones.

5. Describe the biochemical functions of insulin together with the associated functionasl abnormalities.

6. Discuss the principal biochemical abnormalities associated with certain pituitary function.

7. Discuss the biochemical functions of Luteinizing hormone (Interstitial cell stimulating hormone in males and females)

8. Discuss the biochemical functions of three gastrointestinal hormones.
