SECTION I (Answer all the questions in this section)

State and explain briefly four points showing that Floriculture is important to the Kenyan economy. (8mks)
Question Two
Mention any two cut flower species and state their ecological requirements. (8mks)
Question Three.
Explain what is meant by "Vernalization" in floriculture then mention and discuss briefly three other practices used for the same purpose as vernalization. (8mks)
Question Four
Write short notes about the use of greenhouses for the production of cut flowers.

Question Five.
Discuss briefly four reasons why potted plants are found in many homes. (8mks)
SECTION II (Answer any TWO questions in this section)
Question Six.
Describe the following Cultural Practices as used in Floriculture:
De-shooting
Defoliation
Netting
Pinching
Disbudding.

Question Seven
In Floriculture, both nutrient deficiency and excessive fertilization are detrimental.
Give examples of nutrients required for flowers and for each nutrient state the following:
The symptoms of deficiency
The symptoms of excess
Discuss one reason why a nutrient in excess causes negative effects in the plant.
