The case of Donohue V. Stevenson (1932). A manufacturer of ginger beer had sold a quantity to a retailer. The drink was bottled in opaque glass. The retailer resold it to a hotel manager who purchased it and gave it to the plaintiff. The plaintiff drank a quantity of the ginger beer, and when a further glass was poured, decomposing snail emerged from the bottle. The snail had found its way into the bottle at the defendant’s factory. The plaintiff sustained illness in consequence of the drink.
Advise the customer. (11 marks)
