Joe designed an experiment to investigate the effects of eating lunch on performance in the afternoon classes. He randomly assigned one group of students to eat lunch in the Mchuzi Café at noon. The students had chicken, chips and soda. A different group of students had no lunch, but still spent an hour in the Mchuzi Café. Both groups had similar breakfast at 8 a.m. He measured their performance by giving a research methods quiz at the end of their 4 p.m. class. The lunch group scored significantly higher.
