Question Three
Kevin is a cheerful a nine (9) year old standard four boy who is brought to the outpatient clinic after the teacher repeatedly called his mother about his worsening classroom behavior. His teacher described him as likeable and friendly but constantly disrupted the class by his antics and could no longer be tolerated by the class. The teacher reported that he hummed and made noises under his breath, blurted out answers without raising his hand and tried to be first when the teacher asked a question, even though he did not have the answer. The teacher had returned him constantly to stay on his seat. Kevin was a whirlwind of energy when on the playground, he had few playmates because of his tendency to disrupt games and invent his own rules. Kevin seldomly completed his assignments in class.
Using DSM IV criteria, diagnose Kevin’s problem. (3 points).
