1. a) Discuss the significance of remote sensing applications as compared to past earth observation approaches (5mks)

b) Describe remote sensing and explain image interpretation (5mks)

c) Write short notes on the following in relation to remote sensing:
i) Criteria for sensor selection (3mks)
ii) Pixel vectors and labeling (3mks)
iii)Color composite (3mks)
iv) Change detection (3mks)
v) Constraints of airborne multi-spectral scanners (3mks)


2. Using suitable examples, discuss the various thematic areas of remote sensing techniques for environmental science applications (15mks)

3. describe the supervised and unsupervised application processes and evaluate their suitability in the analysis of vegetation species change-detection in the Aberdare forest (15mks)

4. Evaluate, with a suitable illustration, the key components of the remote sensing process in the characterization of oceanographic dynamics (15mks)

5. Describe how a mapping evaluation of land suitability, with environmental overlays so as to indicate potential usefulness of spatial planning for managing Maasai Mara National Park, could be carried out (15mks)
