SECTION A: SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS (5 MARKS EACH)

1. Give five reasons why it is important to study fungi.
2. In relation to the life cycle of Dicyostelium discoideum explain the following terms:
a) Aggregation stage (3 marks)

3. Give a summary of the materials necessary for the preparation of temporary mounts of fungal cultures.
4. Discuss the importance of the genus Pythium.
