1. a) Research has demonstrated that timely, adequate and appropriate nutrition intervention can improve patients’ clinical outcomes, improve the quality of life and reduce healthcare costs. Discuss. [10 marks]

b) In view of the multi-faceted nature of many diseases, a team approach to health care has always been recommended. Describe why team approach in patient care is imperative. [10 marks]
2. a) Describe the pathophysiology involved in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. [10 marks]

b) Describe the role of various factors in the development of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. [10 marks]


3. a) Describe the pathophysiology of malnutrition among children 6 – 59 months.
