1. a) Briefly describe the following terms as used in water supply ; cistern, service pipe,
distribution pipe, ball valve and non- return valve. [ 5 marks]

b) Compare the direct cold water supply and indirect cold water supply. [ 7 marks]

c) Make an accurate sketch of
i) a typical cold water service layout and
ii) a typical cold water storage cistern [ 8 marks]

d) Make a simple sketch of a VIP latrine. [ 8 marks]

e) What are the functions of sinks in rural households? [ 3 marks]

f) Using appropriate sketch explain the functions of the various components of a single
stark sanitary system that can be used in simple domestic house. [ 9 marks]

2. a) List all the factors that are considered when selecting sanitary fittings [ 6 marks]

b) Make an accurate sketch of a typical Chinese type water closet. [ 7 marks]

c) List the factors to be considered when selecting a thermal insulation material.

3. a) What are the advantages of an electrical ring circuit? [ 5 marks]

house. [ 15 marks]

4. a) List the advantages of thermal insulation of building in the cold areas of our country.[ 5 marks]

b) Differentiate between low fire load and high fire load. [ 6 marks]

c) Make a sketch of typical external steel escape stair details. [ 9 marks]
