INSTRUCTIONS:
Answer ALL questions from Section I and any TWO in Section II.

SECTION 1: PRACTICALS (30 MARKS)

2. The following ten words will be finger spelled to you by the examiner one by one. After each word there will be a pause to allow you to write the words. Each word will be signed twice. [10 words each 21 mark]

3. The following seven sentences will be signed to you by the examine one by one. After each sentence there will be a pause to allow you to write the sentences. Each sentence will be signed twice. [7 sentences each 2marks]

4. The following six sentences will be finger spelled to you by the examine one by one. After each sentence there will be a pause to allow you to write the sentence. Each sentence will be finger spelled twice. [6 sentences each 1 mark]


SECTION II THEORY ( 40 MARKS)
5. Explain how hearing parents would react towards the diagnosis of a hearing impairment of their baby / child. [ 20 marks]

6. Discuss the Milan Conference resolutions that provided the way forward on the communication controversy for persons with hearing impairments . [ 20 marks]

7. Describe factors that you would consider as important when selecting a suitable method of communication for children with hearing impairments in your class. [ 4 marks]

8.“ Manual communication would retard language development in children with hearing impairments” Discuss. [ 20 marks]
