1. (a) Write the following mathematical expressions in mathematical Braille
notation (5marks)
(i) Ten plus thirty six plus twenty three equals sixty nine.
(ii) Thirty sic mines sixty divide by eleven equals three.
(iii) Eight times fifteen plus thirty equals one fifty.
(iv) Two thirds divide by half times a quarter equals a twelfth.
(v) Two and fifth plus one and third equals three and eight over
fifteen.
(vi) Two a times two a equals for a squared.
(vii) Two x plus four x plus three plus y equals six x plus three y.
(ix) Twenty percent of hundred equals five.
(x) One thousand minus on ninety six equals one hundred and four.
(b) Write the following words in Braille grade II. (5marks)

(iv) Arrangement
(vi) Were
(vii) Account
(viii) Doubtful
(ix) Restlessness
(x) Character
(c) Writing in Braille grade II, transcribe the passage below from print to Braille.
(10marks)
Unlike the visual sense which allows for concurrent perceptions of various
aspects of a single object or concept to occur, the touch sense demands that
information must be derived by the exploration of one aspect at a time. The
learner must therefore engage in multiple explorations in order to gain
information comparable to that acquired by the sighted counterpart in a single
viewing. If, either the quality or quantity of these manipulations is inadequate,
the knowledge and the experience necessary for the learner’s successful
interaction with the reading text may not be sufficient or enough for reading a
particular passage.

3. Writing in Braille grade II explain how you would introduce a pupil to Braille as a
medium of communication. (15marks)
