QUESTION 1 (COMPULSORY)
The reformation took place ‘in the fullness of time,’ when the prevailing condition were ideal
for such a happening. Guided by class proceedings, defend this opinion by discussing the
condition of the Church at the Eve of the Reformation. (20 mks)

A. Discuss the life and contributions of any I (one) of the key figures of the Reformation
in Europe. (15 mks)
B. What were the key principles of the reformation movement (5 mks)

QUESTION 3
The “Counter-Reformation is the general name for the complex of causes and results that
from the middle of the sixteenth century checked the progress of the Protestant Reformation
and won back to the Roman Catholic Church much of the territory and prestige which
apparently had been lost by it.”
A. Discuss any 3 Counter Reformation measures taken by the Roman Catholic Church.

C. In your opinion what 2 (two) benefits and 2(two) disadvantages can be experienced
under a strong church organizational structure? (5 mks)

is not a recent happening nor is it a by-product of colonialism – its roots go back to the very
time of the apostles.”
A. Show the continuity of the presence of Christianity in Africa from the first century to the
