QUESTION ONE

(i) Discuss giving appropriate examples the productive resources that are important in a farm
business. [6 Marks]

(ii) Planning is an important aspect of farm business explain the characteristics of a good
farm plan. [10 Marks]

(iii) A farmer who produces beef and eggs is thinking to change his enterprises to maize production. The average cost of maize production amounts to Ksh 20000 per acre and the price of maize is Ksh 2000 per bag. At what yield will the farm begin to make profit if the farmer change to the new enterprise. Advise the farmer on the conditions which he will use to decide whether to change to the new enterprise or not. [8 Marks]

(iv) Distinguish among the following types of budget:

(a) Complete budget. [2 Marks]

(b) Partial budget. [2 Marks]

(c) Break even budgeting. [2 Marks]

(i) Discuss the various performance indicators that can be used in the analysis of farm enterprises. [10 Marks]

(ii) Discuss various methods of analyzing farm management data for the determination of relationships and establishments of management principles. [10 Marks]
