(iii) Discuss the contribution of Frederick Taylor to modern management. (5mks)
(iv) Identify various barriers for effective communication (5mks)
(v) Differentiate Authority from responsibility and show why they should be balanced.(4mks)

2. i) Enri Fayol is referred to as the father of modern management. Discuss his contribution to
modern management. (14mks)

ii) Discuss complexity as a major determinant of organizational structure and show why the
knowledge on this complexity is important to practicing manager in Kenya (6mks)

3. (i) Discuss perception and personality as the major influencers of employees behaviors in the
organization and explain how the knowledge on perception and personality can help the
practicing manager to ensure optimum utilization of his employees. (14mks)

4. (i) Discuss the role of reinforcement in the management of employees in the organization and
outline briefly the five schedules of reinforcement. (14mks)

(ii) Some theorists in evolution of organization maintain that the organizational structure is
fully determined by politics in the organization. Critically examine this argument. (6mks)
