Answer questions ONE and any other TWO questions.

1. a) Discuss the main categorization of social work practice, clearly showing the main focus of each category. (10 marks)

b) Elaborate any FIVE principles of social work, indicating the importance of each principle of the social work practice. (20 marks)

2. Using your own examples explain the following social work theories and show how they can be applied in social work and humanitarian assistance practice.

i) Social learning theory. (10 marks)

ii) Conflict theory (10 marks)

3. a) Using the Kenyan context, explain your understating of the concept “humanitarian assistance”. (5 marks)

b) Humanitarian action is guided by the principles of “Impartiality” and “Neutrality” Discuss this statement in the context of international humanitarian law. (15 marks)

4. EITHER
a) i) Briefly discuss FOUR factors that make training of social work and humanitarian assistance practitioners relevant in contemporary Kenya.(8 marks)
ii) Explain the case work, group work and community organization aspects of social work practice and how each contributes to community welfare.(12 marks)

b) What are the methods of Intervention in Social Work and Humanitarian Assistance? Discuss giving examples. (20 marks)

5. Resource mobilization is an important aspect of humanitarian assistance work. Explain any FOUR sources where organizations working in humanitarian work can get resources for their work. (20 marks)
