will be all over him. Your challenge is to position your station as
being the true Obama fan’s natural choice. Where and how will
you get material to make a curtain-raiser documentary on president
Obama’s homecoming? (10 marks)

b) Define the term documentary. (5 marks)

c) Give a brief history of documentary and explain the importance of
documentaries. . (10 marks)

2. Discuss how the following are used in documentary production:

ii) sound effects
iii) music
iv) suspense
v) camera shots (15 marks)

3. What are the typical problems you might run into while producing a
documentary? (15 marks)

4. List and explain the basic tools for documentary production. (15 marks)

5. What are the main differences between documentaries and other
television programmes? (15 marks)

6. Among the top list of things a documentary producer should know is that,
there is no substitute for a good story. Discuss. (15 marks)
