Definition of concepts:
1. (a) Explain the importance of health research in contemporary society. (15 marks)

(b) Identify and describe different types of health research. (20 marks)

(c) In your answer explain the application and overlap in the types of
research identified in (b) above. (15 marks)

2. (a) Explain the procedure used in identifying and defining a research problem
in scientific research. (15 marks)

(b) Adherence to objectivity is the single major characteristic of a good
research. Discuss this statement using relevant examples. (15 marks)

3. Distinguish between experimental and non experimental study designs as
applied in health research. (30 marks)

4. Compare and contrast probability and non-probability sampling designs. In your
answer explain how the latter is a strength of the earlier type of sampling design
and vice versa. (30 marks)

5. Choose two types of qualitative methods of data collection and discuss their
advantages and disadvantages over quantitative methods. (30 marks)

6. Explain the meaning of the following in the context of research design:
