INSTRUCTIONS: Answer any four questions. Question 1 and 2 are compulsory.

1.The nature and characteristics of a child with hearing impairment pose a great
challenge to his/her development. Discuss. (20 marks)

2.Using a labelled structure, explain how sound is channelled right from the
outer ear to the inner ear for reception. What could be the impediments in
the pathway? (20 marks)

3.Audiological assessment is of great importance to children with hearing impairment. Explain how pure tone audiometry can be carried out successfully.
Illustrate the specific equipments in use for such assessment. (15 marks)

4.Describe 5 types of hearing aids that are used to support children with hearing
impairment. Show how a teacher would prepare a child to use each. (15 marks)

5.Causes of hearing impairment fall into various categories. Identify these categories and explain how the causes occur and the possible remedies. (15 marks)
