QUESTION ONE
As sales manager for Honda, Yadur occasionally relies on punishment to try to improve his
employee‘s performance. For instance once he was dealing with a salesman who was having a bad month, after a week without a sale. Yadur confronted him. He screamed at the employee, told him his performance was unacceptable, and then threw a notebook binder at him. YADUR unapologetic about his behavior, said” I am always tough on all my sales people, but they know the reason is that I want them to do better. Do I think the reason is always effective? No. but if you do it once in a while, it works.”

For along time Carleton s.(caril”) Fiorina was one of the best-known CEOS in the world .Brought in as Hewlett-Packard’s(hp) CEO in 1999, Fiorina was instantly recognizable for her charisma, visibility and aggressiveness. Practically every book featured her. She was even mentioned as a possible cabinet member of the Bush administration or a senate candidate from California. Widely praised as a change agent and a visionary leader at lucent Technologies –which she led before joining HP. Fiorina had a way of generating enthusiasm and excitement. Some called her a “rock star”CEO”.
However, under Fiorina leadership, HP struggled as the second largest computer company. Although revenue climbed steadily under her leadership, profits did not. Nor did the stock price As a result of these struggles, the HP board tried to find a way to limit Fiorina’s powers and give more authority to other executives.
