Instructions
Answer all questions in Section A and any other TWO questions in Section B.

SECTION A [30 Marks]
1. i. Explain the meaning of the term “ environmental education” [2 Marks]

ii. Describe any three strategies that can be used to ensure sustainable food security in Kenya [6 Marks]

iii. Explain two human activities that affect water resources in Kenya and suggest practicable solutions to the problem of water degradation. [8 Marks]

iv. With the aid of a well labeled diagram, describe the cycling of matter in the carbon cycle. [8 Marks]

v. Explain the relationship between deforestation and water scarcity. [6 Marks]











SECTION B [40 Marks]
2. a). Describe the objectives of environmental education in accordance with the Tbilisi, USSR conference of 1977. [10 Marks]

b). Giving examples, discuss solutions to challenges facing solid waste management
in Kenya. [10 Marks]

3. Kenya has one of the highest human population growth rates in the world. Using relevant examples, explain the environmental consequences of rapid human population growth in Kenya. [20 Marks]

4. One of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals is to ensure environmental sustainability, discuss efforts Kenya is putting in place to achieve this goal. [20Marks]
