1. While working with women in the area of Family Planning you decide to use the mass
media extension tools. Depict any four tasks that you can accomplish with the women
when using the mass media extension tools.

2. An organization decides to use the CEWs (Community Extension Workers) to provide
services on agriculture in the community. Explain four costs and responsibilities
associated with the CEW approach for the providers.

3. As a programme officer of an organization working with CEW you are faced with the
challenge of ensuring that the extension service provision you are implementing is
sustainable. Validate any four measures you can initiate to ensure that the extension
service provision is sustainable.

4. Extension education uses various teaching methods to reaching community members
with important information. Illustrate with relevant examples any four methods that you
can use to educate community members through group contacts.

Answer Any TWO Questions from this Section.

5. At the initial stage of community extension work active involvement of the youth and
disabled groups in the community can be very challenging. As a program officer dealing
with poverty extension programs in a rural community explain any three challenges that
one can face in dealing with these groups of people. For each challenge mentioned
suggest a suitable strategy you can use to overcome it.

6. You work for a British American Tobacco (BAT) company as an extension officer. The
company aims to increase the production of tobacco in the community using the farm
visit method. Detail how you are going to plan, make the visit and follow up the farm
visit.

7. Community extension programmes are aimed at improving the lives of rural people.
There are however various social cultural factors that act as a barrier to extension work.
Discuss any three barriers to social change that you can face while in Kajiado
community and for each barrier suggest one intervention that can address the problem.
