4. (a) What is (i) a variable?
(ii) Variance?
(b) State and explain four (4) types of variables in Research studies.
(c) Explain any three (3) methods that can be used to control variance in a research process.

5. You have been given a research Report to evaluate. State and briefly explain any twenty (20)
questions that you would address to find out whether the Report is acceptable or not. The
twenty questions should be based on the main chapters of a research Report. (20 mks)
