1. World vision, a renown international NGO in Kenya, has invited you to facilitate a workshop on community mobilization. Discuss the following four important topics that you are likely to tackle in this workshop.

(ii) Importance and challenges of community mobilization
(iii) principles of community mobilization
(iv) Steps in community mobilization. [20 Marks]

2. (a) You have been appointed to implement a water project in a community in
Marsabit county with clear instructions to use RPDA (Rapid participatory dry – land Approach). Clearly discuss how you will operationalize this tool. [12 Marks]

(b) Citing clear example, discuss the place of community empowerment and capacity building in community mobilization. [8 Marks]

3. An officer from the ministry of fisheries, in Kisumu, has issued a ban of fishing at night. This was as a result of high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in communities around the lake, as reported from recent research findings. The fishermen are disgruntled with this decision because this will adversely affect their livelihood. They are therefore planning a demonstration. As a community organizer, what strategy would you use to confront the authority. [20 Marks]

4. (a) Clearly discuss the rationale of mobilizing the poor and vulnerable groups in a
community of your choice. [10 Marks]

(b) Using the examples presented in class, outline the process of organizing for a
fundraising in a community. [10 Marks]
