Section A:

1. Discuss the functionalistic perspective of Religion in the society. [15 Marks]

2. Write brief comments on any three of the following topics /terms [15 Marks]

(iii) The “greatest good”
(iv) Morality
(v) Normative ethics

Section B:

3. Critically analyze some of the ethical issues facing the 21st century society and show how both the sate and the individual can responsibly handle them. [20 Marks]

4. (a) Briefly outline some of the ethical absolutes in a religion you are familiar with. [10 Marks]

(b) Using relevant examples discuss how religious beliefs can contribute to positive transformation in the society. [10 Marks]

5. (a) Discuss how the state influences personal “happiness” and “freedom”.
[10 Marks]

(b) Giving suitable examples show how ‘human rights’ help in ensuring peaceful coexistence in the society. [10 Marks]
