Question One

(a) Define the term “Target Hardening” [3 Marks]

(b) Bring out some of the main features of a standard operating procedure of a protective security officer. [6 Marks]

(c) Illustrate some of the threat sources, risks and threats likely to be found in a public hospital in an East African country. [6 Marks]

(d) In a walk around inspection of a service tunnel, what check list items would you scrutinize for vulnerabilities and detailed observation. [6 Marks]

(e) Explain briefly the strategies which may assist to reduce the fear of crime to realistic perspectives and reduce actual crime levels in your village or estate during school holidays. [6 Marks]

(f) A duly appointed security officer or authorized person may require the name and residential address (and evidence of correctness of the name and address) of a person in what circumstances. [3 Marks]




Question Two

(a) Compare and contrast the term “Technical Surveillance” with the term “Natural Surveillance”. [6 Marks]

(b) Effective Security Management considers five factors which may affect a person’s perceptions and their behavior subsequently leading to an increase or decrease in the likelihood of committing a crime or displaying unwanted behavior. Explain them. [14 Marks]

(a) When do we say that an Assault is unlawful? [4 marks]

(b) The law provides a greater penalty for persons who assault a security service employee in the execution of their duty. Explain circumstances in which serious assault occurs.

(a) Define the term a mechanical restraint in management of a forensic mental health patient. [4 marks]
