Section A: Compulsory

1. (a) What is the main goal of forensic interviewing. [2 marks]

(b) In your opinion, why should Forensic interviews not be conducted by professionals who are having an on-going or a planned therapeutic relationship with the child. [3 marks]

(c) Explain the overriding features between Hypothesis Testing and Child Centered Approach in forensic interviewing. [10 marks]

(d) You have recently been asked to interview a 7 year old boy who has been sexually abused. Clearly explain the guidelines about interviewer behavior, demeanor, and communication that you will follow throughout the interview. [15 marks]

3. As an interviewer, discuss the things you would consider when preparing for a forensic interview under the following topics

(iii) Setting up the physical environment [6 marks]

4. Discuss the major steps of a phased interview provided by the Task Force of Michigan. State and in each step provide at least three questions that can guide an interviewer. [20 marks]

5. (a) “The traditional police interviewing skills paint a picture of officers using less than optimum techniques to elicit information from witnesses”. Discuss.
[10 marks]

(b) Explain five different sequential components of a cognitive interview should be structured into five different sequential components. [10 marks]
