To determine a cloth is non-colorfast, apply warm water to an inconspicuous part, for instance, inside the hem of the garment, and then press this part with a hot iron between two pieces of white cloth. If there is a stain the white cloth, the garment is non-colorfast, should therefore be washed separately in cold water and rinsed immediately without soaking.

For black clothes to keep looking new, add two cups of coffee or tea to the rinse cycle. Other dark colors like navy blue, add one cup of table salt at the rinsing stage. You can also opt to soak jeans in salt water. Thereafter, turn the jeans inside out and use cold water to rinse them. In case of stubborn grease stains, sprinkle baby powder, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then brush the powder off. Powder absorbs the grease and is brushed away with it.

Chewing gum can be a bane to most people when stuck on clothes. In this case, fold the clothing with the gum sticking out, place it in a plastic paper bag and pop it into the freezer for a couple of hours. The gum should come off in chunks. For smaller amounts of gum, try rubbing with an ice cube and the scrape with a knife.

For shrunken sweaters, fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a quarter size amount of shampoo. Soak the sweater for 10 minutes and gently squeeze then lay flat on a towel. The shampoo relaxes the fibers and allows the sweater to stretch back to the original shape. Getting rid of funky smell probably of new clothes or dyes, add half a cup of baking soda to about four liters of water and pre-soak for about two hours. As you wash, add half cup white vinegar

to the rinsing stage.

Finally, ensure you Toss and follow the instructions displayed on the packaging label. Stand out with toss, the gentle detergent.
