Are you in the habit of comparing yourself to other people? Perhaps to a celebrity, a relative, a friend, or just a stranger? If your answer is yes, you're not alone. The sad reality is that many of us often find ourselves comparing our lives to those of others.

It is clear to see that social comparison begins at a very young age. Young children find out very fast that not everybody has the same life or the same opportunities. They start to see how some other kids own more toys, wear better clothes, or stay in bigger houses. As these young children grow into their teenage hood, the social comparison does not stop. It usually increases and becomes negative self-talk.
Negative thoughts such as "I am not good enough", "I can never make it", "I'm unlucky", or "I cannot do anything correctly" begin to creep into their minds. This sort of pessimistic thinking leads to anxiety and depression impulses, which may continue into adulthood.

If you tend to compare yourself to other people, here is why you should stop this negative habit right now:

1. You're robbing yourself of happiness
Comparing yourself to other people will only make your life harder and cause you to feel misery and pain. You should instead try to use other people as motivation to work better and harder.

2. You are stalling your progress
It is indeed true that if you spend most of your time comparing your life to others, you will not accomplish anything. You should strive to concentrate on achieving your personal dreams and ambitions. Do not waste precious days in gloomy thoughts.

3. No life is perfect
It is easy to assume that other people lead exceptional lives with no bad moments, but that is not the case. Every single human being on this Earth faces problems and

challenges at different points in their lives. Nobody leads a perfect life. The next time you want to compare your life to a family member or friend, remember that you don't have knowledge about every aspect of their life.

4. There's always someone who is better than you at something
The sooner you accept that there will always be someone out there who is better than you at doing something, the more joyful your life will be. At some point, somebody else will be ahead of you at something. Just work hard and try your level best. If you're meant to achieve something, it will happen at the right moment.

Conclusion
You cannot physically change yourself. You are you, and you will always be you not someone else. There'll never be anybody exactly like you. God gave you special talents and gifts, and it is your duty to share them with the world. Although every person possesses special talents and gifts, no one will utilize theirs the same way as you!
